A milestone, two quick fouls and a heartbreaking loss

(Editor's note: Texas Tech senior forward Plenette Pierson, a former Big 12 Freshman of the Year, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.)

Sorry I have been gone for a couple weeks. I had just been really busy.

Since last time I wrote, Coach Sharp set a memorable milestone in her career against Oklahoma on Feb 19. She won her 500th game. That was a great night for her and our team because it gave us something to celebrate -- and it gave our team some confidence and motivation going into the rest of the season.

After Coach Sharp won her 500th game, we hit the road for Oklahoma State and Nebraska. In the Oklahoma State game, I got off to a bad start and picked up two quick fouls. But that's OK; my team responded very well. We ended up winning the game 83-48. Then it was on to Nebraska. This was our worst offensive game of the year. We played very hard but we just could not get any shots to fall. Luckily, we came out with a "W."

Then the big challenge ahead of us: Texas. This was a very heartbreaking loss for us because we played so hard and worked so hard in practice to fix the things that had gone wrong in our first meeting with the Longhorns. Texas played great all the way to the end of the game and the 'Horns really had some big-time players hit some big-time shots.

We can't dwell on the past game as we now have to refocus and get ready for Kansas State. As usual, we had great fan support -- there were 15,050 people at this sellout game. We are now ready for Kansas State and hopefully we can get a good win going into the Big 12 tournament.

After the Texas game, Jamie Nagle and I had to do what we call Run and Gun, where the fans get to know us a little more. This was hard for us being that we just lost, but it was great to be out there with people like our fans that care so much about us more that just as student-athletes. I revealed during this question-and-answer session that the things that I think have changed about me since my freshman year until now was that I have become a more mature person.

Can't wait to update you on our future games.
