(Editor's note: Texas Tech senior forward Plenette Pierson, a former Big 12 Freshman of the Year, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.) Nov. 11, 2002
We participated in the Tipoff Classic this weekend along with Tennessee, Louisiana Tech and Oklahoma. We played Louisiana Tech. It was a very important game for me because it was my first time back on the floor since my suspension last year. I think that this was an important game for the team as well as coach (Marsha) Sharp because she was selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame the day before. Louisiana Tech was a strong team with a lot of talent. They played hard and we came up on the losing end. After all is said and done, I think that we all learned of some things that we can do differently throughout the season to make our team better. Coach Sharp's induction is a great honor for both her and the team. I feel this way because we are some of the select few that will get to play for such a prestigious coach. Coach Sharp really deserved this award because she has worked extremely hard to build the program and the tradition that we have here at Texas Tech. Well, we play our first exhibition game on Nov. 12 in Lubbock and another on Sunday, Nov. 17. Hopefully, we can take the things that we learned from the Louisiana Tech game and transfer it over to the rest of the season. Well, adios until next time. I'll be back next week with updates on how our exhibition games went. For more on Pierson and Texas Tech, visit the Lady Raiders' official athletic site. |
