Loss, Hall teach good lessons

(Editor's note: Texas Tech senior forward Plenette Pierson, a former Big 12 Freshman of the Year, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.)

We toured the Hall of Fame while we were in Knoxville, Tenn., for the State Farm Tipoff Classic. It was great touring the Hall of Fame because we were able to view the jerseys of two of our teammates (Jia Perkins and Erin Grant). Not only were we able to see their jerseys, but we also got to see a locker dedicated to the West Texas Flyers AAU team that teammates Casey Jackson, Natalie Ritchie and Jolee Ayers played on during the summer. I was excited and very interested in the things that were displayed in the Hall of Fame. I learned a lot of history about the sport of women's basketball. I hope that one day that I will be able to see my jersey hanging in the Hall.

We participated in the Tipoff Classic this weekend along with Tennessee, Louisiana Tech and Oklahoma. We played Louisiana Tech. It was a very important game for me because it was my first time back on the floor since my suspension last year. I think that this was an important game for the team as well as coach (Marsha) Sharp because she was selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame the day before. Louisiana Tech was a strong team with a lot of talent. They played hard and we came up on the losing end. After all is said and done, I think that we all learned of some things that we can do differently throughout the season to make our team better.

Coach Sharp's induction is a great honor for both her and the team. I feel this way because we are some of the select few that will get to play for such a prestigious coach. Coach Sharp really deserved this award because she has worked extremely hard to build the program and the tradition that we have here at Texas Tech.

Well, we play our first exhibition game on Nov. 12 in Lubbock and another on Sunday, Nov. 17. Hopefully, we can take the things that we learned from the Louisiana Tech game and transfer it over to the rest of the season.

Well, adios until next time. I'll be back next week with updates on how our exhibition games went.
