(Editor's note: Texas Tech senior forward Plenette Pierson, a former Big 12 Freshman of the Year, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.) Nov. 25, 2002
Speaking of practices, we worked hard this week. We worked together as a team in order to be ready for the game against Washington. We knew the Huskies would be ready to play, but thankfully we to were ready to play. This week's game was against the Washington Huskies. Like I stated before, Washington came ready to play, but we too were more than ready to play. The team again came together and played an awesome game. Several players scored in double digits. More than a few players stepped up and had excellent games. Again, like the first two exhibition games, everyone got a chance to play in the game, and like the other games our team succeeded in outscoring our opponent. We all feel that we are learning more and more about each other on the court. We seem to be learning to read our teammates in order to be successful on the court. We outscored and outhustled the Huskies in order to gain the win. I hope that our team will continue to come together in order to come out on top of the other teams throughout the season. Next week we face Valparaiso. A former teammate, Candi White, will be on the opposing side for this game. She is a graduate assistant for Valparaiso. During this game, last season's NCAA Tournament banner will be dropped at the USA (United Spirit Arena). We don't know much about Valparaiso, but if our team works together like we have the last few games, we should be able to come out on top. Coach Sharp is allowing us two days off for the holiday. We have to be back on Saturday night in order to get ready for Creighton on Dec. 4. Finals are coming to soon. I have a nine-page paper and a presentation in my Persuasion class. I have taken one final and still have three more to go. I am anxious for this semester to be over and ready to start playing more games. I am positive that I will do satisfactory in all of my classes. I have done nothing but study and attend practice this past week. Unfortunately, my life has few exciting stories to tell other than basketball and school. I look forward to giving you more information this same time next week.
