Fast and furious

(Editor's note: Texas Tech senior forward Plenette Pierson, a former Big 12 Freshman of the Year, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.)

This past week was fast and furious. We played against Valparaiso on Wednesday night. The crowd was an amazing 11,000-plus people. This shocked me considering the holiday vacation had already begun and most of the students had left for their hometowns. Former teammates Candi White, now a Valpo assistant coach, and Amber Tarr attended the game as guest coaches. We also unveiled the 2001-02 Sweet Sixteen banner before the game. This was a strange feeling for me because I was not part of that team, but it also gave me motivation to hopefully unveil a 2002-03 national championship banner next year!

The game with Valpo went well. We came out on top to continue our win streak at home. I had an unusual game. I got into foul trouble early in the first half and again early in the second half. I of course did not agree with all of the fouls, but hey, that's how it goes sometimes! I feel that our team again worked together. We seem to learn more about each other with every new game.

I went home for the Thanksgiving break. I flew home early Thursday morning in time for lunch with my family. I drove all over the area to visit different relatives. On Friday, I stayed in the beauty salon for 10 hours to get my hair done. After this there was no time to do anything else, so I went home and spent more time with my family. On Saturday morning, I flew to Dallas (because there were no flights to Lubbock) and I rode back to Lubbock with some teammates. I felt that the trip was fun but way too short to thoroughly enjoy!

We play Creighton on Wednesday. Unfortunately, it is our only game this week because of finals beginning at the end of the week. I personally would much rather play ball than take a final. I have three more finals to complete between Friday and next Wednesday.

I hope to have a good game against Creighton. I think if we continue to work as a team and control the outside perimeter, we should be able to come out on top like the previous four games. Well, this is all for now!
