(Editor's note: Purdue junior Shereka Wright, a 5-foot-10 forward and All-Big Ten first-team pick, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.) Nov. 3, 2002 Instead of going through an intense and productive practice, the coaching staff decided that the team should take a day getting to know one another. We met with our team sports psychologist, Chris Carr, who helped guide us through the process.
At the end of the discussion, we had an emotional session during which each person said something nice to a teammate, focusing on things that make our teammates stand out or make them unique. I just could not believe some of the wonderful things I heard in that session. To believe that your teammates and coaches spend that much time watching and noticing things that you think people do not see is wonderful. I think the day brought us together because now we know each other a little better. I think this is going to be a starting point for exciting things in the future for this team. Yes, I do believe the sky's the limit! For more on Wright and Purdue, visit the Boilermakers' official athletic site. |
