(Editor's note: Purdue junior Shereka Wright, a 5-foot-10 forward and All-Big Ten first-team pick, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.) Jan. 15, 2003
It was a great day for Purdue basketball on Jan. 12. Another Big Ten championship banner was unveiled in Mackey Arena, this one in honor of the 2001-02 Boilermakers. More than 11,000 people were in attendance to see this special event. Also, former Boilermakers Laura Meadows, Kelly Komara, Brea Williams and Crystal Vander Platts also were there to share the moment. Then, after all this great excitement, we played the Michigan Wolverines and gave the crowd an exciting game. The result? The Boilermakers were victorious in a team effort. What a great way to start the week! This week is huge for us when we play Penn State on Thursday and at Minnesota on Sunday. Not to say that all of the games aren't big, but this is a chance for us to claim a share of first place in the Big Ten standings. It will take another team effort and doing the little things to win. I will write back next week and give the results! Have a wonderful week! For more on Wright and Purdue, visit the Boilermakers' official athletic site. |
