The Cy Young races hold a lot of intrigue, where Cubs ace Jake Arrieta could trump the Dodgers' duo of Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.

Yanks manager Joe Girardi said starter CC Sabathia told him that he needed help battling alcoholism in Baltimore Sunday. "If CC is a guy who can step up in a situation like that, I hope it gives other people confidence to step up," Girardi said.

Outlook dim for wild-card teams

With a win-or-go-home game still to be played this week, the odds are currently against the Cubs, Pirates, Yankees or Astros winning the World Series, according to the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.

Tough odds for Cardinals

Despite leading the league with 100 wins, St. Louis is in the middle of the pack in terms of teams favored to win the World Series by the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. The Cards are sandwiched by the Mets and Rangers.

If the Yankees advance in the wild card, CC Sabathia probably would have started one of the ALDS games. Sabathia, who announced today is going for alcohol dependency treatment, had pitched much better of late. In his last four starts, he had a 2.22 ERA. With Masahiro Tanaka starting the wild card game, the Yankees' rotation for the ALDS if they were to advance would likely be rookie Luis Severino, Michael Pineda, Adam Warren and Tanaka. Nathan Eovaldi is rehabbing his forearm, but, if he comes back, he would only return as a reliever because he is not stretched out.
