Jets coach Todd Bowles, who "went off" in the locker room after Sunday's loss in Houston, said his rant wasn't meant to be a wake-up call. "I think we're awake. That's the problem," he said. Awake, but not executing, he meant. One player said the only other time he saw Bowles that angry was one day in training camp.

The Jets' official injury report: CB Darrelle Revis, C Nick Mangold (hand), S Dion Bailey (ankle), and TE Kellen Davis (personal) didn't practice. In fact, Revis was sent home by docs. He's unlikely to play Sunday. DE Sheldon Richardson (hamstring) returned to practice and will play. WR Brandon Marshall (toe) was limited. P Ryan Quigley (right knee) was added, but he was full practice.

Jets center Nick Mangold, who hopes to take snaps tomorrow in practice to test his right hand laceration, was naturally saddened to see Ryan Fitzpatrick drastically trim his own beard. "I know it is the hot button issue for the day," Mangold deadpanned. "Its difficult to see a good beard go down. But obviously he is a fighter. He will get back up and continue to work on his growth and just keep getting better every day... (Was it) a panic move? No. No. No. Just his birthday and I assume he did it for the kids because we all know it is all about the kids."

Odell Beckham Jr. under center?

It could happen! That is, if the Giants ever suffered a spate of mid-game injuries. OBJ's ability to throw spirals with either hand might come in handy. Emergency QBs

NFC East race far from over

The Giants got some breathing room during their bye week, but FPI still gives the Eagles a 33 percent chance at winning the division. The Redskins and Cowboys aren't out of it, either.

Jets CB Darrelle Revis (concussion) wasn't spotted at practice. C Nick Mangold (hand) and DE Sheldon Richardson (hamstring) were present, but it appears that neither will practice. Richardson did some light work in positional drills; Mangold did nothing during the media window.
