Rex Ryan's confidence and swagger was a trait he shared with father Buddy Ryan, who died Tuesday at age 82.

Theft an issue for Noah Syndergaard
The Nats swiped five bags off Syndergaard in his three innings of work on Monday. That brought his season total of stolen bases while he's pitching to 28, twice as many as any other pitcher in baseball.
Blame it on the rain, Yankees
New York's streak of 160 straight wins when leading entering the ninth inning came to an end early Tuesday morning after the Rangers scored four runs following a lengthy rain delay to win 9-6.
Marly Rivera ESPN Writer
Before last night's rain-delayed game, the Yankees had won 160 consecutive games when leading after 8 innings. They are now 160-1 in such games, dating back to June 1, 2014. The Rangers beat the Yankees 9-6 in a game that was delayed for 3 hours and 35 minutes. The Yankees had a 6-5 lead going into the 9th inning before play was stopped after Aroldis Chapman walked Robinson Chirinos and had a 3-1 count on Shin-Soo Choo. Rangers scored 4 runs after the game resumed at 2:15 am.
Noah Syndergaard just isn't the same
In his last two outings, the right-hander has pitched much worse than he did in his first 14 starts this season.

Nationals pitching settled in vs. Mets
After allowing four runs on nine hits in the first three innings on Monday, Nats pitchers held the Mets scoreless over the last six frames. That allowed the offense to mount a comeback and lead the team to an 11-4 win.
Andrew Marchand saw it coming
Our Yankees beat writer took to Twitter during Monday's rain delay to predict that the Rangers would mount a comeback after the ninth-inning stoppage of play. Of course, they did.
Brandon Nimmo said he is appreciative of his call-up to the majors, especially coming from Wyoming, where there is no sanctioned high school baseball.
Aces not themselves on Monday
Both Jake Arrieta (5 earned runs in 5 innings) and Noah Syndergaard (5 ERs in 3 IP) saw their ERAs climb at an alarming rate with their disastrous outings against the Reds and Nationals, respectively.
Alex Rodriguez isn't finished yet
The 40-year-old slugger made it clear that he doesn't intend to stay on the bench for long.

Carmelo Anthony believes the addition of star Derrick Rose changes the perception of the New York Knicks for Kevin Durant and other free agents.

The Knicks are interested in Joakim Noah, but he isn't the only big man on their radar. Another center some in the Knicks organization are high on is Timofey Mozgov, per league sources. The interest between Noah and the Knicks is strong and mutual. But Mozgov, an ex-Knick, provides an interesting alternative. With Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose and Kristaps Porzingis on the roster, the Knicks probably won't need a high-scoring center. Mozgov doesn't need touches and would provide mobile rim protection and rebounding. He also compares favorably to Noah in some categories (age: Mozgov is 29, Noah is 31; recent health: Noah was limited to 29 games last season due to a left shoulder injury).
