A great performance comes to naught for Michael Pineda, who struck out 12 and allowed just two hits in 6 innings today against the Texas Rangers. But one of those hits, a home run by Shin-Soo Choo on the fourth pitch of the game, forced Pineda to settle for a no decision as the Yankees offense could only manage one run of its own on Didi Gregorius' solo HR in the fifth. The game is tied at 1 in the bottom of the ninth

The Jets and Sheldon Richardson have to be breathing a sigh of relief. After pleading guilty to resisting arrest, stemming from a high-speed chase with cops last July in St. Louis, Richardson could've been slapped with a multi-game suspension. He got off easy with a one-game ban. It'll cost him one game check -- $104,471. This will be the second straight year he misses the opener. He served a four-game suspension last year for a marijuana violation.
