Pacers president Larry Bird is holding a press conference on Thursday at noon EST, the team announced. The guess here is that he'll address the status of head coach Frank Vogel. If Vogel is let go, it will be interesting to see if Phil Jackson pursues Vogel for the Knicks' vacancy.

Islanders coach Jack Capuano was then asked if he thought the hit by Hickey on Jonathan Drouin was clean. "Well, when Jonathan Drouin cut to the middle, [Hickey] hit him right in the chest. That's an open-ice hit and we've seen plenty of those and it's directly right in his chest. Where on the hit on Thomas, you can see his head snap back and you can see the shoulder lead the elbow up into the head areas, so totally two different hits and on the angles that I have, it's not even close."

Islanders coach Jack Capuano stands by his Game 3 postgame comments, regarding the hit by the Lightning's Brian Boyle on New York's Thomas Hickey. Here is Capuano's answer from Wednesday's conference call: "Your emotions are high after a game, but I watched it. Very seldom do I have time to watch video right after a game during the season when I come see [the media]. But I had a chance to watch it and I just feel like the hit was high. To me, it's a position where it's an odd-man rush going the other way too. It's one of those calls that [ref] has a spilt-decision to make, so I'm going to stand by what I said and I thought the hit was high. It led to a really good scoring chance for them. "Like I said last night, these guys that are getting suspended for a game, or three, or whatever it is, it's a fast game. They're not playing dirty. They're trying to finish their checks and do the right things and when things happen so fast, shoulders, elbows, sticks get up and get up high. To me, just seeing Thomas after the game, bleeding out of his mouth and his teeth, he got hit in the head. I'm not going to change anything. I'm not going to change my opinion on that."
