The Binghamton lineup has not been posted yet, but Juan Lagares and Jose Reyes remain with the Double-A club Friday. Sandy Alderson had mentioned Thursday that it was possible Lagares could be activated from the disabled list on Friday. Lagares is trying to demonstrate he can play with a partially torn ligament in his left thumb.

After winning a Stanley Cup championship with the Pittsburgh Penguins, 32-year-old defenseman Ben Lovejoy signed a three-year deal worth $2.67 million, according to a league source. He was a major contributor in the playoffs for the Penguins and earned $1.1 million in Pittsburgh last season. Due to cap constraints, the Penguins could not re-sign him, so the UFA signed with the Devils. In 334 career regular-season games with the Penguins and Anaheim Ducks, Lovejoy has 15 goals and 62 assists for 77 points.

Familia nails down an exciting save

With runners on second and third and no outs, Jeurys Familia struck out Kris Bryant and Willson Contreras (around an intentional walk to Anthony Rizzo) with a bunch of darting, diving, 97-mph sinkers that were moving down and in. He then got Javier Baez to pop out, and the Mets won a big game. Five things we learned Thursday

Didi Gregorius provides his own encore

Gregorius homered on Thursday, less than 24 hours after his walk-off shot beat the Rangers on Wednesday night. The only other Yankees player in the last seven seasons to hit a walk-off HR in one game and go deep in the next game of the same series was Ichiro Suzuki, coincidentally also against Texas, in June 2013, the Elias Sports Bureau reports.
