ARLINGTON, Texas -- CC Sabathia, who has already pitched two games in the past six days, may still pitch one more time in the ALCS.
Maybe even as soon as Friday night's Game 6.
"Our plan is, he's available tomorrow," Girardi said. "Let's see how he feels but our plan is that he will be available for us."
Sabathia, who threw 237-2/3 innings in compiling a 21-7 regular season record, pitched just four innings and threw 93 pitches in the Yankees Game 1 victory here, and went six innings and threw 112 pitches in the Yankees Game 5 victory at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday.
In neither outing was Sabathia sharp; he allowed six hits and five runs in Game 1, and 11 hits, but only two runs, in Game 5, in which he got the win. If he were to pitch again Friday -- and the Yankees went on to win the series in Game 7 on Saturday -- Sabathia would be on rotation to open the World Series next Wednesday in either San Francisco or Philadelphia, depending upon who wins the NLCS.
"I'll be down in the bullpen," Sabathia said. "I could throw 45-to-50 pitches. I'll be available."
