"It looks good," Pettitte said. "It's healing up good. Doc said the break was about 50 percent closed up, so that's good. It was really good."
Pettitte said he doesn't think the positive results will change his six-week timetable to return. The 40-year-old veteran hopes to be back by Sept. 1.
"I think we're gonna take another X-ray I believe (the doctor) said when we come back from the next road trip and see where we're at," Pettitte said. "I'm hoping by the next X-ray, I'll be completely healed. And maybe I'll be able to get going four or five days earlier."
Pettitte said he isn't going to be able to run "for a while." Right now, he's working on the stationary bike and in the pool.
"I'm just happy I'm able to throw better today in the outfield," he said. "I continue to progress. We'll just have to wait and see. I think it was good, but I don't think it moved my timetable up."
Pettitte is 3-3 with a 3.22 ERA in nine starts for the Yankees this season.
