OAKLAND, Calif. -- Reggie Jackson returned to the New York Yankees after a short banishment in the wake of his critical comments about Alex Rodriguez, but he didn't have much to say about the situation.

"I'm here like you, to watch the game, to watch them keep winning," Jackson told reporters before Thursday night's game against the Oakland Athletics.

Jackson, a special adviser to the Yankees, was in uniform for the pregame workout.

"I think it's all behind us; that's the most important thing," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "(Jackson) has made a number of calls to try to rectify everything. I'm OK with it. I'm glad he's here."

Jackson, a Hall of Famer nicknamed Mr. October, said last week he made a mistake questioning Rodriguez and others. The former Athletics and Yankees star told Sports Illustrated that Rodriguez's statistics were tainted by his admitted use of performance-enhancing drugs.
