Williams finished with 22 points and nine assists.
Williams had been questionable after suffering a right thigh contusion in the third quarter of Friday night's victory over the Phoenix Suns.
"(He) probably shouldn't go, but (he) loosened up, (and) wants to try (to play)," Carlesimo said before the game.
Carlesimo said the Nets are going to heavily monitor their franchise point guard's minutes.
"(Deron's) one of the guys clearly we've got to watch and say, 'This isn't making any sense, we've got to just shut him down and give him a couple days to hopefully heal a little better,' " he said. "Or, 'He's a little bit more mobile than we thought.' There will be a lot of dialogue between him, (trainer Tim Walsh) and us."
Wallace told ESPNNewYork.com as he was exiting the arena, "I'm feeling good."
Good enough to return for Tuesday night's game against the Raptors?
"I hope so," Wallace said. "I hope so."
There is no timetable for Wallace to return, but Carlesimo said Walsh is "encouraged" by the small forward's progress.
Because of all their injuries, the Nets signed forward Damion James to a 10-day contract.
