In the fourth quarter, the league determined that Watson flopped in order to draw an offensive foul on Timberwolves guard J.J. Barea.
"J.J. Barea's a flopping guy, so I tried to give him a taste of his own medicine," Watson told the YES Network in a postgame interview. "I hope I don't get fined, though."
Watson's next violation would result in the same $5,000 fine. A third violation would result in a $10,000 fine. A fourth violation would result in a $15,000 fine, a fifth $30,000, and six or more could lead to a suspension.
