Jamal Branch transfers to St. John's

NEW YORK -- Point guard Jamal Branch has transferred to St. John's from Texas A&M.

Red Storm coach Steve Lavin said Tuesday that Branch, who played at Grace Preparatory Academy in Arlington, Texas, has enrolled at St. John's and that after sitting one season per NCAA transfer rules will have 3½ seasons of eligibility.

Branch played in 11 games for the Aggies this season, averaging 4.2 points, 2.5 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 18.6 minutes.

He had seven points, five rebounds and two assists in Texas A&M's 58-57 victory over St. John's in the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer at Madison Square Garden in November.
