NEW YORK -- Fordham has extended the contract of men's basketball coach Tom Pecora through the 2016-17 season.

The school announced the extension Tuesday. Pecora just completed his second season with the Rams.

After serving as head coach at Hofstra for nine seasons, Pecora took over a program at Fordham that went 2-26 in 2009-10. The Rams went 7-21 in his first season and 10-19 in 2011-12, including beating then-No. 22 Harvard, their first win over a ranked team since 2000, and first at home since 1978.

Fordham won one Atlantic 10 conference game in his first season and the Rams were 3-13 last season.

Pecora led Hofstra to four 20-win seasons and three NIT appearances.
