Bryan Thomas out with ankle injury

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Bryan Thomas was one of the first players to emerge from the New York Jets' locker room after a 34-17 loss in Baltimore on Sunday night, but not on his own power. The Jets linebacker came out with crutches, and his left foot strapped into a supportive boot.

Asked how severe he thought his injury was, Thomas spoke in a low voice. "I don't know at this point," he said.

Thomas came out of the Jets game during the first quarter with an ankle injury. By the second quarter, the team announced that Thomas was out for the game. Jets coach Rex Ryan didn't have any further information when he addressed the media after the game.

Thomas, who has been in the league for 10 seasons, will be a free agent next season. Thomas may not have the name recognition that some other Jets defensive players do, but he does a lot of the dirty work for the team.

"BT is a glue guy. Guys like that make it easier for everybody else to play because they can play a lot," linebacker Calvin Pace said. "He's a scrapper. ... Hopefully it isn't too serious."
