EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks said Monday he's been told that he will take some snaps in the team's final preseason game on Wednesday night against the New England Patriots.

Nicks, who broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot in May, has yet to appear in the preseason so far.

"As of right now, I was told I was gonna take some snaps," said Nicks, who added that he began to feel 100 percent in Sunday's practice, "but if they decide to change (their minds), I'm sure they'll let me know, and whatever decision they make, I'm gonna roll with it."

Giants coach Tom Coughlin was non-commital when asked about Nicks, saying, "We'll see."

Meanwhile, Coughlin said that defensive end Justin Tuck missed Monday's practice to visit with Dr. Russell Warren for a checkup on his shoulder at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

"This is just a precautionary measure to assess exactly where he's at and what needs to be done so he's ready to go for the season," Coughlin said.

Tuck, who underwent shoulder surgery in February and has had to ice his shoulder after preseason games, was one of several Giants that went to the Hospital for Special Surgery.

While the Giants coach didn't mention anyone else by name, it is likely that defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (back), linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka (groin) and defensive tackle Marvin Austin (back) also went for checkups.

Coughlin said he expects Tuck, Pierre-Paul and defensive end Osi Umenyiora (knee) to be ready for the team's regular-season opener on Sept. 5 against the Dallas Cowboys, but wasn't sure about Austin because issues continue to hamper him.

Running back Ahmad Bradshaw told reporters that his hand is feeling much better and he'll be able to play in the Cowboys game as well.

"I'm not gonna have to wear anything on it," Bradshaw said. "I'll be ready to go. It won't be a problem by the first game."

Bradshaw missed Friday nights 20-17 loss to the Chicago Bears for precautionary reasons.

Coughlin said that, as of now, his starters will see snaps in Wednesday night's game, but that could change.
