For the second straight week, the New York Giants have ruled wide receiver Hakeem Nicks out on the day before their game.

Nicks will not travel to Philadelphia with Giants for their Sunday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles due to swelling in his knee and pain in his surgically repaired foot.

The Giants were hopeful that Nicks would be able to play after having nearly two weeks to rest. He has not played since Sept. 16 against Tampa Bay.

The team held Nicks out of last Thursday's game against Carolina because it was too quick of a turnaround between the Buccaneers game and the Panthers game.

But even with the extended time of rest, Nicks experienced swelling in his knee from an injury he suffered late in the fourth quarter against Tampa Bay.

He went down hard on a play during that win over Tampa and had not really tested his knee since he has been practicing only once a week to rest his foot, which he had surgery on in late May to repair a broken fifth metatarsal.

The Giants determined there was an issue with Nicks' knee after the receiver went through a limited practice Thursday. He was listed as doubtful on Friday before being downgraded to out on Saturday.

On the day before last Thursday's win over Carolina, Nicks was originally considered questionable. He was later downgraded to out after having difficulty running during the team's walk-thru prior to leaving for Carolina.

Without Nicks, the Giants will have Victor Cruz, Domenik Hixon, Ramses Barden, Rueben Randle and Jerrel Jernigan at wide receiver. Barden started against Carolina with Nicks and Hixon (concussion) out and shined with a career-high nine receptions for 138 yards.

Tackle David Diehl (knee), cornerback Jayron Hosley (hamstring) and linebacker Keith Rivers (hamstring) were all declared out on Friday.

Safety Antrel Rolle (knee) and cornerback Michael Coe (hamstring) are listed as questionable. Rolle made the trip and could be a game-time decision to see how his knee feels before the game.
