CINCINNATI -- The New York Giants lost wide receiver Domenik Hixon and backup safety Tyler Sash during Sunday's 31-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals due to injuries.

Hixon suffered an ankle injury on a catch. After having his left ankle re-taped, the receiver headed to the locker room for further examination before being ruled out.

According to the Fox telecast, X-rays on Hixon's ankle were negative.

Rookie Rueben Randle came in and took the majority of the snaps in place of Hixon at third wide receiver. He finished with two catches for 4 yards.

Sash suffered an ankle injury in the opening five minutes. He had provided the team with depth at safety and was a contributor on special teams.

The Giants did have Will Hill at backup safety after he served a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substance policy.

Hill recovered a fumble on a Cincinnati punt return Sunday that helped lead to a Giants field goal in the first quarter.
