BALTIMORE -- The New York Giants were without defensive captain Justin Tuck and safety Kenny Phillips for Sunday's 33-14 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Tuck, who suffered a shoulder injury last week against Atlanta, and Phillips, who is nursing a knee injury, both were ruled inactive prior to the game.

Tuck traveled to Baltimore, but the team opted to keep him out of the game against the Ravens. The veteran defensive end battled numerous injuries throughout all of last season, including a shoulder issue. He did not practice at all this past week.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin was optimistic about Phillips' availability earlier in the week, but the safety missed his third straight game with an MCL injury.

Osi Umenyiora replaced Tuck in the starting lineup, while Stevie Brown started alongside Antrel Rolle at safety.

Tuck and Phillips joined wide receiver Ramses Barden, safety Tyler Sash, tight end Travis Beckum, defensive end Adewale Ojomo and tight end Adrien Robinson as the Giants' inactives.
