New York Giants running back David Wilson, who has not played since injuring his neck in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 6, will have an MRI on his neck this week that Dr. Robert Watkins will review to determine when or if he's able to play again this season, a league source told ESPN.

It is the second MRI that Watkins will examine, and he wants to compare it to the first to see how much Wilson's neck has healed.

The Giants want to be careful with their former first-round pick, and they have running back Andre Brown, who scored eight touchdowns last season, eligible to play next Sunday when New York returns from its bye and hosts the Oakland Raiders (3-5).

Brown has been on short-term injured reserve since breaking his left leg in the Giants' final preseason game, but he's been practicing with the team since Oct. 17.

Because of the injuries to Brown and Wilson, the Giants (2-6) have had five different starting running backs in the season's first eight weeks.

Brandon Jacobs, who wasn't on an NFL roster at the start of the season, is the team's leading rusher, but has just 154 yards. Wilson (146 yards), Peyton Hillis (106), Da'Rel Scott (73) and Michael Cox (42) have all gotten at least one start as well.
