P.A. Parenteau, Islanders have deal

P.A. Parenteau agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension with the New York Islanders, the team announced Thursday.

The deal is for $1.25 million, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

"I'm really excited to stay on Long Island," Parenteau said in a statement. "The Islanders organization has given me the chance to prove that I belong in the NHL and I look forward to being a part of the success that is building in our dressing room for the near future."

Parenteau has 14 goals and 21 assists in 56 games so far this season.
