Will Martin Brodeur play for another NHL team?

The NHL's all-time winningest goalie has hired star agent Pat Brisson as unrestricted free agency beckons Sunday, and he remains without a new contract from the New Jersey Devils.

"He will be testing free agency if a deal is not in place by Sunday," Brisson told ESPN.com via email Friday.

Brodeur has played his entire NHL career with the Devils, but the club faces ownership uncertainty.

Brodeur was asked after the Devils lost to Los Angeles in the Stanley Cup finals how it would feel to play for another team.

"I don't see myself at all doing that," Brodeur said. "But again, I think circumstances is out of my hands. You never know, I guess. I don't want to. It definitely would have to be something really weird that I'm going to do that.

"The Devils is what I am, what I believe in, and this is where I want to be."

Aside from Brodeur, the Devils also have to try to get a new deal done with captain and top forward Zach Parise. If unsigned, he would immediately become the top forward available in free agency this summer.

New Jersey began the process of at least securing five players, including the entire fourth line -- Steve Bernier, Ryan Carter and Stephen Gionta -- that was put together in time for the playoffs and played a key role in victories over the Panthers, Rangers and Flyers. Also re-signed were forward Cam Janssen and defenseman Peter Harrold.
