Ryane Clowe leaves Rangers' game

WASHINGTON -- Ryane Clowe's return to the New York Rangers' lineup was short-lived, as he was forced from Game 5 of the team's Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against the Washington Capitals on Friday night with an unspecified injury.

Clowe, who returned in Game 4 from what is believed to have been a concussion, departed Game 5 in the first period.

The rugged 30-year-old winger took only one shift after taking a hard hit from Washington's Jason Chimera along the end boards at 4:40 of the first, a play that earned Chimera a boarding penalty.

Clowe did not return to the game, which the Rangers lost in overtime, 2-1.
