NEW YORK -- Lisa Cermignano, a former assistant coach at Illinois and Vanderbilt, has been hired as women's basketball coach at Wagner College.

Cermignano, who also worked at George Washington, Monmouth and Maryland in her 14 years as a Division I assistant, will be introduced at a news conference next week.

A standout high school player in New Jersey, Cermignano played at George Washington and was inducted into its Hall of Fame after leading the Colonials to a 103-27 record and four NCAA tournament appearances.

Cermignano worked at Illinois the past three seasons, serving as the program's recruiting coordinator. In her three seasons at Vanderbilt, the Commodores played in three NCAA tournaments, twice reaching the Sweet 16.

Cermignano succeeds Gela Mikalauskas, who retired with a school-record 216 wins in 18 seasons.
