IGLS, Austria -- George Hackl of Germany won the World Cup
singles luge race Thursday with a combined time of 1 minute, 40.067
Hackl's 26th World Cup career victory put him in first place in
the overall standings through four of this season's seven races.
Markus Prock finished second, 0.17 seconds behind, in his final
career run down the Igls ice canal. The 37-year-old Austrian is his
country's most distinguished luge racer, and will retire after the
Hackl's teammate and junior world champion David Moeller was
third in 1:40.288, his best career result to date.
