Alan Branch, 6-6, 315, 5.0, Albuquerque-Cibola, NM
The #1 prospect in New Mexico, I first met Alan back in December in San Antonio and was impressed with his quickness and overall athletic ability at the U.S. Army combine.
On Film-Then when I watched him on film I was even more impressed with his explosive moves off the ball, great strength and instincts at DT. He has an unusually quick first couple of steps, shows great balance and an aggressive nature. He can split the double-team and in fact, most of last season he was either double or triple-teamed. On offense he's a sure handed receiver who runs like a 215 pounder and shows outstanding blocking skills. The real deal on either side of the ball, although he's too big to play TE in college, he's not too big to become a dominating OT or DT at the next level. Just a superior talent with the kind of flexibility, body control, balance and aggressive nature you are looking for in a DT. If Alan was playing his ball in Chicago or Miami he would have over 40 offers. As it is every school that has actually come to his high school to watch film has offered him a scholarship.
Stats-He totaled 80 tackles and 13 QB sacks at DT and caught 15 passes for 330 yds and 10 TDs at TE. Benches 325.
Grades-His GPA is around a 2.5.
Favorite Schools-The MI Wolverines were the first out the area school to offer and right now they lead WA STATE, AZ STATE, TX TECH, NM and NM STATE. His father played NG at New Mexico.
