Mel Kiper Jr. breaks down the film on New York's second-round pick, Sterling Shepard. What are the biggest strengths and weaknesses of the No. 40 overall pick?

Dan Graziano ESPN Staff Writer

With their second-round pick (No. 40 overall), the Giants took Oklahoma WR Sterling Shepard. At 5-10, 194 pounds, he's not a big receiver, but he's speedy and killed his combine workouts. He's obviously a candidate to fill the vacant No. 2 WR spot opposite Odell Beckham Jr.

The Giants are on the clock in the second round. Possibilities here include an offensive lineman like Jason Spriggs, WR like Sterling Shepard, a safety like Vonn Bell, among others.

Joe Girardi on Dee Gordon testing positive: "I'm surprised but I'm not. Now, Dee Gordon wouldn't have been a guy that I would have predicted, but it's disappointing. I don't think it's ever going to go away. I think the rewards are too great from a financial standpoint. "

Jets first-round pick Darron Lee said he joked with fellow former Ohio State Buckeye Eli Apple, the Giants' top pick, about sharing the same locker room at MetLife Stadium. "Don't touch my locker!" he said he told Apple. Actually, the Jets and Giants have separate locker rooms. Lee said maybe they could be roommates in New Jersey.

Jets LB Darron Lee wants fans to know he plays with passion. "You'll see that, but I want you to feel it, you know what I mean?" He said. "I want you to feel my passion and energy, how I genuinely care about this game." Lee was polished and well-spoken in his first news conference. He learned media training from his mother, Candice, a reporter and weekend anchor at the NBC affiliate in Columbus, Ohio.

That's all I have to say." What will it show? "We won, 59-0. (It showed) that I can take on bigger guys and take on a fullback."

Westchester guard Jimmer Fredette (2nd team) and center Jordan Bachynski (3rd team & all-defense) have earned all D-League honors. It will be interesting to see where Fredette, a former 1st round pick, ends up next season. He signed a 10-day deal with the Knicks in 2015-16 that was not renewed.

Carmelo Anthony is trying to take an even-keel approach to things while the Knicks search for a coach. "Until they have something that's when I'm going to have something," he said in an interview Thursday at an event to promote Gillette Clinical Clear Gel. "Honestly I try to step away from it for a minute, just clear my head, not even think about that part of it right now. I find myself being able to cope better when I do do that. instead of thinking so much about it, being emotional about it. I try to distance myself from it." It's similar to Anthony's approach in pressure situations. "Just try to stay mellow, man."
