Juan Lagares went 1-for-4 with a strikeout and a run scored for Double-A Binghamton in the first game of his rehab assignment. He logged seven innings in center field. Lagares is trying to demonstrate he can play through a partially torn ligament in his left thumb and can avoid in-season surgery.

The Yankees haven't had any bad news in a few minutes, so here you go. 2015 first round pick James Kaprielian has a flexor tendon strain in his right elbow. He has had re-occurring discomfort and will next go see Dr. Neal ElAttrache. There was thought before the injuries that Kaprielian might be able to shoot through the minors to the majors in one year.

More bad news for the Yankees -- and this could be really bad. Carlos Beltran just left the game after singling to left field. Beltran appeared to be favoring his legs,as he went around first base. After being checked out by a trainer and manager Joe Girardi, Beltran was removed from the game. Beltran has been by far the Yankees best hitter this season.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he never considered pinch-hitting Alex Rodriguez in Aaron Hicks' place in the ninth, despite the fact that the tying run was at the plate early Tuesday morning. With a righty on the mound, the amount of hours Rodriguez sat and the short porch in right, Girardi said turning to A-Rod was not a thought. When asked when he could pinch-hit A-Rod in AL parks, Girardi didn't have much of answer instead basically saying wait-and-see. A-Rod is in tonight's lineup, starting against lefty Cole Hamels. A-Rod is 1-for-6 with a homer.

After not finishing until 2:44 on Tuesday morning, the Yankees and Rangers may face some more rain today. AccuWeather says there could be thunderstorms during tonight's game. Bring your umbrellas and -- judging from last night -- maybe a sleeping bag.
