David Ortiz strikes again to beat Yankees with late home run

BOSTON -- All these years later, David Ortiz still haunts the New York Yankees. In the first Boston Red Sox-Yankees game of his final season, Ortiz cracked a two-run homer in the eighth inning against usually dominant reliever Dellin Betances to fuel a come-from-behind 4-2 victory Friday night at Fenway Park.

David Wright played the full game on Friday night despite the blowout because he will have Saturday's game off. Wright was due to sit once this weekend, and Terry Collins wants him in the lineup on Sunday against a left-hander, Madison Bumgarner.

Highlights: Jordan Jenkins

The Jets opted for Jenkins, an outside linebacker from Georgia, with the 83rd overall pick. Check out some of Jenkins' best highlights here.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

At 83, the Jets have selected Georgia OLB Jordan Jenkins (6-3, 259). It addresses a glaring need and Jenkins is a good value in the third round. He had only four sacks last season. He's more of an edge setting run defender than a pure pass rusher.

Here are the Giants' picks so far through the third round: 1. Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State; 2. Sterling Shepard, WR, Oklahoma; 3. Darian Thompson, S, Boise State.

The Jets are on the clock at 83. Hey, maybe they can draft a player that can, you know, help them this year.

Dan Graziano ESPN Staff Writer

Darian Thompson had 19 career interceptions at Boise State. "He's very instinctive," Giants coach Ben McAdoo said. "He has tremendous ball skills, but the instincts and the twitch make it happen for him."

Jerry Reese says Darian Thompson is a free safety. "Center fielder, makes the calls, solid tackler."

On Jets QB Christian Hackenberg: Scored a 24 on the Wonderlic test, about average for a quarterback. He has small hands, only 9 inches. It could be a factor in cold weather.

Highlights: Darian Thompson

The Giants bolstered their secondary with the selection of Thompson at No. 71 overall. Check out the safety's film here.

Dan Graziano ESPN Staff Writer

With the 71st pick, the Giants took Boise State safety Darian Thompson. This will be the sixth safety the Giants have picked in the past four drafts, and he doesn't appear to be the surefire starter they've been seeking for the free safety spot. They would have done better to take an offensive or defensive lineman here.

Dan Graziano ESPN Staff Writer

The Giants are on the clock in the third round. After taking a CB and a WR with their first two picks, expect them to look to the trenches here and address either the offensive or defensive lines.

Pacers 71 Raptors 64 end 3. Indiana outscored Toronto 31-20 in the quarter. Toronto is 6-for-22 from 3-point range and shooting 36.1 percent. Cory Joseph has 13 points off the bench.

Jets take Hackenberg, muddling QB situation

The Jets used the 51st pick of the draft to take Penn State's Christian Hackenberg, raising questions about the future of quarterbacks Geno Smith, Bryce Petty and Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Rich Cimini ESPN Staff Writer

If the Jets re-sign Ryan Fitzpatrick or another veteran of his ilk, it means the Jets will have four quarterbacks. Can't keep 'em all. Obviously, they don't have much faith in Geno Smith or Bryce Petty. Christian Hackenberg becomes the new golden child.
