Do you believe in miracles? They are taking the tarp off the field as we approach the three hour mark of the rain delay. It appears we may resume this game that was delayed with the Yankees up a run on the Rangers with no outs and a man on in the ninth.

Tarp coming off at Yankee Stadium... rain delay closing on 3 hours...

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

The rain delay is approaching three hours with no end in sight. The Yankees were leading by one run in the ninth when Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman couldn't find the strike zone in the wet conditions. A complaining Joe Girardi convinced the umpires to delay the game with a man on and no out. Rangers manager Jeff Banister disagreed, realizing if the game were eventually called his team would lose. The rain was coming down at the same rate as the previous innings. With Texas having a chance to win the game in the ninth, the umpires will likely wait until the skies clear. There may be less than 100 fans remaining here.

Only a handful of fans left as the rain gets harder and harder in the Bronx. Yankees-Rangers in a rain delay called in the top of the 9th inning with Texas down 6-5 and 1 man on with no outs and a 3-1 count on Shin-Soo Choo against Aroldis Chapman.

If the Yankees-Rangers game resumes and no one sees it, does it still count?

The Yankees and Rangers are in a rain delay in the ninth inning of a one-run game. The rain had been falling for innings before Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman came in to try to finish off a victory. Chapman walked the first batter before falling behind the second. Yankees manager Joe Girardi came out to complain, causing the umpires to decide to call for the tarp. Rangers' manager Jeff Bannister argued the decision, but did not get it overturned. The game was originally delayed for 25 minutes at the start even though it hadn't rained.

Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman told me pre-game that he was feeling a little sick with cold-like symptoms; stressed he'd be ready to pitch tonight if called upon.
