The Mets are not sure Steven Matz will make Wednesday's start. He has been examined by a doctor and there is no structural damage, but he has been uncomfortable.

Kevin Durant didn't want to divulge which teams he'd be meeting with in free agency. On the Knicks, he said, "'Obviously they have a good team now with D-Rose and Melo and Porzingis so I will talk to my team and we will figure things out."

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Alex Rodriguez will start against a lefty tomorrow but was non-committal about A-Rod at DH against righties the following two days. The Yankees play in San Diego this weekend, meaning A-Rod, who is being benched for a second straight game tonight, will likely not be in the lineup for much of the next week since there is no DH in the NL park and A-Rod doesn't play the field anymore.

A-Rod on being out of the Yankees lineup for a second day in a row: "I'm a little surprised. I've been here for a long time and I want to be out there every day and I want to contribute. All you can do is control your attitude and your work ethic, and I feel good about both."

Carmelo Anthony thinks the Derrick Rose trade makes the Knicks a place for top free agents to consider this summer: "As far as (Rose) being healthy and me being healthy coming back into this season, Kristaps having a year under his belt, I think it does make it a destination spot for a lot of people to see the pieces that we have to try to create something."

Melo's looking forward to playing with Rose

Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony shares his thoughts on being a veteran presence on the USA basketball roster, how he feels about New York trading for Derrick Rose and his discussions on attempting to recruit Kevin Durant to the Knicks.

Alex Rodriguez has been benched for a second consecutive game. Rodriguez, who has struggled against righties all year, has been replaced by Carlos Beltran at DH in Monday's lineup against Texas righty Chi Chi Gonzalez, just as he was Sunday.

A wideout who earned Sherman's respect

Richard Sherman's brash personality is no secret, as many wide receivers have learned the hard way. But Odell Beckham Jr. caught his attention in a positive way as a rookie.

Carmelo Anthony agreed with Phil Jackson's assessment that Anthony's been 're-invigorated' by the Derrick Rose trade. Anthony said the moved showed him that the club is trying to win now, rather than rebuild.

Carmelo Anthony was asked if he's "reinvigorated" as Phil Jackson has said. "Phil said I'm reinvigorated?" Anthony asked with a smile and chuckle. "I'm reinvigorated." Anthony does seem genuinely excited about the Derrick Rose trade and recent direction of Knicks but knows there's still more pieces that need to be added.

Carmelo Anthony says he's spoken to Kevin Durant about the Knicks and free agency. And Melo adds on the Derrick Rose trade: "I like it. I like it a lot... I'm a big fan of Rose."
