James Dolan spoke about the Knicks & Rangers at the announcement of the Garden of Dreams Foundation's donation of a gymnasium at a youth center in Queens. Of the Knicks' start, Dolan said, "I am encouraged but I'm mostly encouraged because Phil Jackson is in charge and I think he's doing a great job and I think he's going to bring us a winner. On Kristaps Porzingis, Dolan said, "Kristaps has already shown us that he's ready to play on New York and ready to be a New Yorker." The owner rarely speaks publicly, but he was on hand to unveil a new gym at the SCO Family of Services Residential Facility in Queens. The Garden of Dreams Foundation donated $230,000 to refurbish the gym.

As part of his contract restructuring this past offseason, the Giants guaranteed $500,000 of Geoff Schwartz's $3.925 million 2016 salary. He has two years left on the four-year, $16.8 million deal he signed prior to the 2014 season. He has played just 13 games in the first two seasons of the deal and was placed on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday. Seems likely they move on, but that guarantee could at least make them think about it.

The Jets-Giants game Sunday will feature two Bill Parcells disciples, Todd Bowles and Tom Coughlin. They learned a lot from Parcells, who learned a lot from his mentor, Mickey Corcoran, his old HS basketball coach. Sadly, Corcoran died Sunday at the age of 93. In his Hall-of-Fame speech in '13, Parcells called Corcoran "a second father to me." Corcoran played HS basketball in NJ for Vince Lombardi, creating a Lombardi-Parcells link. The branches on that coaching tree will reach to Sunday's game.

Carmelo Anthony is still under the weather but expects to play tomorrow vs. Philadelphia. He missed Sunday's game due to illness.
