Here is the statement from the new majority ownership of the New York Islanders: It is a privilege to become the majority owners of the New York Islanders Hockey Club, and we thank Charles Wang, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and our fellow National Hockey League owners for their support in making this possible. We are grateful for this opportunity to build upon the Islanders' rich history, which includes four consecutive Stanley Cup Championships. We also look forward to working with a superb team on behalf of the incredibly passionate Islanders fans. Garth Snow and Jack Capuano, who led the Isles to an exciting playoff run in 2016, have our full confidence. We commit ourselves to doing what it takes to bring our fans and the team a fifth Stanley Cup, and eagerly await the home opener at Barclays Center on October 16th.

Representatives for Dion Waiters fielded interest from Kings, Nets, Sixers, Bulls, Heat and OKC on Thursday, per a source. The shooting guard showed he could contribute to a winner this year with the Thunder.

Both Lance Thomas & Langston Galloway heard from several teams tonight. Among the teams to contact Thomas include the Thunder, Timberwolves, Nets and Hawks. The Knicks would like to keep both Galloway and Thomas. They extended a qualifying offer to Galloway earlier Thursday, which gives them the opportunity to match any offer made to the second-year guard. They have no such assurances with Thomas and it may be a challenge to fit Thomas' deal into their cap space if they hope to add a shooting guard and center Joakim Noah into their $30 million in room.

As ESPN's Ian Begley reported, the Nets are in on Portland restricted free agent G Allen Crabbe. The Blazers have said they'll match any offer for the perimeter scoring threat.

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

The Knicks have several shooting guards on their radar, including Austin Rivers, Evan Turner, Eric Gordon and Courtney Lee, per sources. The first domino for New York is Joakim Noah, though. If and when they agree to a number with Noah, they will move on to shooting guard. The club also hasn't ruled out the possibility of meeting with Kevin Durant, sources say. Their meeting with Noah is scheduled for tomorrow and will take place in Orlando, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. The Knicks' interest in Rivers and location of the Noah meeting was first reported by The Vertical.
