Phil Jackson's out of office message

Jackson has tweeted photos from Iowa and Nebraska the last two days. Is the coaching search on hold with the Knicks president out of the office? On a break

Robinson would help Jets take off

Cam Robinson is a player who is consistently large and in charge on Alabama's offensive line. His toughness is never in question, and he could help New York's run game. Way-too-early 2017 mock draft (Insider)

Here come the draft-pick signings: The Jets have agreed to terms with seventh-round punter Lachland Edwards (Sam Houston State), his agent announced on Twitter. It's four years, $2.4M.

Charles Barkley responded to ex-Knick Charles Oakley, who questioned Barkley's toughness in a tweet on Wednesday night. "Charles Oakley doesn't like me, which is no big deal," Barkley said on TNT, per an accounting in the New York Post. "I don't like him or dislike him; I don't think about him. He's not important enough for me to think about. … He don't like me. I have no idea why."

Giants will feed Shepard the ball

Rueben Randle was the second most-targeted Giant last year, but he's no longer on the roster. Enter rookie Sterling Shepard, a second-rounder whom Mel Kiper Jr. expects will see plenty of action. Kiper: Impact rookies (Insider)

Where will Garrett go?

Myles Garrett has consistently lived up to expectations in College Station. Would the Aggie be a good fit as a New York Giant if he declared for the draft next winter? Way-too-early 2017 mock draft (Insider)

It's unclear at this point if the Knicks will have interest in Frank Vogel, whose contract has not been renewed by the Pacers. Worth noting here: Vogel worked as an advance scout for Jackson and the Lakers in 2006. Jackson has said he'd "probably" limit his coaching interviews to people he knows. Theoretically, Vogel fits this description.

Jets rookies start arriving today for rookie minicamp, their first exposure to professional football. The media will have access to practices tomorrow and Saturday. There might be a Christian Hackenberg story or two.

New York teams both win big

The Mets shut out the Braves 8-0 while the Yankees blanked the Orioles 7-0 on Wednesday -- the second time that both New York teams won by shutout and scored at least 7 runs in the same day, per Elias Sports Bureau. The only other instance was Oct. 5, 1986.

Matz moves on from rough start

Since his disastrous season debut against the Marlins on April 11, Steven Matz has been one of the best pitchers in baseball.

Phil Jackson has tweeted photos from Sioux Falls, Iowa and Nebraska in the last two days. You don't need me to tell you that Jackson is on vacation at the moment. The interesting thing here is that league sources say that some involved in the Knicks' coaching search have been informed that Phil is away at the moment, meaning the search is on hold. This could be Phil's way of distancing himself from certain candidates, or he could legitimately be taking a break from the coaching search. Either way, it's clear that the Zen Master marches to the beat of his own drum.
