Thomas Vanek wants to test market

It's still more than a week until Valentine's Day, but Thomas Vanek appears to be in the midst of a breakup with the New York Islanders.

As ESPN and multiple outlets reported Monday, Vanek turned down a significant, long-term offer from the Islanders with the promise of free agency just months away. His agent, Steve Bartlett, told ESPNNewYork.com that Vanek, an impending unrestricted free agent, is "strongly leaning" toward testing the market July 1.
