Derek Jeter 8th in all-time hits

TORONTO -- New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter gained sole possession of eighth place on baseball's all-time hit list with two hits in the first four innings Sunday against the Blue Jays, giving him 3,320 career hits and moving him one ahead of Hall of Famer Paul Molitor.

Jeter tied Molitor in the third inning with a line single to right, and passed him with a ground ball up the right-field line that eluded Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion.
