Derek Jeter not in Yankees' lineup

NEW YORK -- New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi decided to sit Derek Jeter for a second straight day because of a tight quad in spite of Jeter's usual protests over being left out of the lineup.

"He's not real happy," Girardi said. "I told him missing one game is better than missing four to six weeks, if something were to happen."

Jeter is available in an emergency Sunday against the Boston Red Sox, Girardi said. There are no tests scheduled.
