Private funeral before memorial for Boss

The family of New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, who died Tuesday of a heart attack at 80, announced Thursday that Steinbrenner's funeral would be a private affair.

The funeral will take place either Saturday or Sunday, in Tampa or the Steinbrenner horse farm in Ocala, Fla. The Yankees are expected to announce plans for public memorials in Tampa and Yankee Stadium on Monday.
