For once, Santana lets Mets down

A historically bad start by their ace proves too much for Amazin's to overcome

NEW YORK -- It went 13 innings, but in the end it was still all about the beginning.

Johan Santana gave up a career-worst six runs in the first inning Wednesday night to the St. Louis Cardinals in the New York Mets' 4-hour, 32-minute 8-7 loss.
