Four swim around Manhattan

NEW YORK -- Four elite swimmers failed in their attempts to break Shelley Taylor-Smith's record in a race around Manhattan.

Mark Warkentin, a 2008 Olympian from Santa Barbara, Calif., finished first, completing the 28.5-mile course in 6 hours, 16 minutes, 37 seconds -- well off the mark of 5:45:25 set by Taylor-Smith in 1995.

Bulgaria's Petar Stoychev (6:28:23) was second, followed by Australia's Rondi Davies (6:43:23). Tobey-Anne Saraceno, from nearby Rye, didn't finish.
