Mets designate Brad Emaus

NEW YORK -- The Mets have pulled the plug on Rule 5 pick Brad Emaus.

Days after manager Terry Collins said the second baseman had a limited number of at-bats to prove himself, Emaus was designated for assignment Tuesday. Justin Turner has been promoted to take his place.

The Mets cut veteran Luis Castillo late in spring training, eating a chunk of his remaining contract. Emaus ended up being the Mets' opening day second baseman.
