Manfred Schellscheidt retires

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- Manfred Schellscheidt, the winningest soccer coach in Seton Hall's history, is stepping down after 24 seasons.

The school announced Schellscheidt's retirement Monday.

Under Schellscheidt, the Pirates qualified for the NCAA tournament nine times, won two Big East championships and reached the conference title game seven times. Seton Hall advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2001.
