Daniele Meucci wins in Central Park

NEW YORK -- Daniele Meucci won the Healthy Kidney 10K race Saturday, the first Italian champion of the event in Central Park.

He finished in 28 minutes, 28 seconds, using a final sprint to edge Leonard Korir by 2 seconds. Bobby Curtis was third in 28:37.

Three Americans on the Olympic marathon team used the race as a tuneup. Abdi Abdirahman was fifth (28:56); Meb Keflezighi was seventh (29:08) and Ryan Hall finished 15th (30:15).
