Andy Pettitte says X-rays 'good'

NEW YORK -- Checkup X-rays taken Sunday on Andy Pettitte's left ankle were "good," the New York Yankees left-hander said.

"It looks good," Pettitte said. "It's healing up good. Doc said the break was about 50 percent closed up, so that's good. It was really good."

Pettitte said he doesn't think the positive results will change his six-week timetable to return. The 40-year-old veteran hopes to be back by Sept. 1.

"I think we're gonna take another X-ray I believe (the doctor) ...
