Devils place Martin Brodeur on IR

NEW YORK -- The New Jersey Devils have placed goaltender Martin Brodeur on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.

The veteran 40-year-old goaltender was slated to start Sunday's game against the Winnipeg Jets, but pulled the plug after experiencing what the team called "soreness" during pre-game warmups.

Brodeur was placed on IR retroactive to Feb. 24, meaning he is not eligible to play until the team's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday.
